All fabrics, whether from natural or synthetic materials will have impurities. These are classified as either primary impurities or secondary impurities. Primary impurities are naturally occurring within the fibres of the fabric, while secondary impurities are additions that are accidentally added during the processes used to create the fabrics.
The pre-treatment of fabrics is essential for removing both primary and secondary impurities while giving the fabrics in question a number of desirable qualities. All inherent colors are removed, in some cases, the fabrics increase their water absorbency, and the pre-treatment processes ensure that when the fabrics undergo dyeing and printing that the colors are transferred in a uniform manner.
